[Vancomycin dosing in hemodialysis patients].
UNLABELLED Vancomycin is widely used in haemodialysis (HD) patients for treating infections of vascular access due to St. Aureus. To avoid subtherapeutic levels it is important to know the adequate dosing in patients undergoing haemodialysis with high flux membranes. OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to evaluate whether HD patients treated with 1 g intravenous (IV) vancomycin reached optimu...
متن کاملThe Impact of Intraluminal Vancomycin Adminstration on Prevention of Hemodialysis CatheterRelated Infections
Introduction: Percutaneously inserted double-lumen central venous hemodialysis catheters provide the nephrologist with an excellent temporary access for an immediate hemodialysis treatment and preserve the peripheral veins for the future creation of a permanent arteriovenous vascular access. Unfortunately catheterrelated infections are usually common. In this study, the impact of intra luminal ...
متن کاملWeight-based loading of vancomycin in patients on hemodialysis.
We evaluated weight-based loading doses of vancomycin and resulting initial prehemodialysis concentrations. Modeling demonstrated modest correlation between dose administered, age, and initial concentration achieved. Actual body weight-based loading of vancomycin predictably achieves therapeutic initial concentrations in patients who receive hemodialysis.
متن کاملClearance of vancomycin during high-efficiency hemodialysis.
BACKGROUND Vancomycin is commonly used for the treatment of MRSA infections in critically ill patients with renal diseases. Vancomycin is mainly eliminated through the kidney. Its excretion is therefore substantially reduced in severe renal impaired patients. Although several studies have demonstrated that significant amounts of vancomycin are removed during High-Flux/High-Efficiency Hemo Dialy...
متن کاملMeasuring patient survival on hemodialysis.
Considering the progression of ESRD—left untreated and in the context of maintenance hemodialysis—there can be little doubt that the delivered dose of hemodialysis impacts patient survival. What remains at issue is how best to operationally define hemodialysis dose, a necessary precondition to defining the dose that represents “enough” dialysis. Presently, hemodialysis dose is most often measur...
